How the way you feel about money is stopping you from earning more money
Lets face it, you want to make more money, that is why you are in business- to make money. Right? But do you have a receiving problem?
Lets get something out of the way first before you even answer this question…..
Consciously, you talk about hitting your financial, personal and business goals. You want to make more money in your business because you know that with that extra income you the money to invest more in yourself, complete that project you have been working on for many years, eat better maybe, quit your 9-5 job, stop worrying about money and so on.
Consciously you want to succeed and believe you can make more money.
But deep down inside you know the problem is not what you consciously say you want, but it is what you believed deep down inside, on a subconscious level.
You might be saying I want more clients, but deep down you are saying
“If I have more clients, I will have to do more work. And i don’t want more work”
“I don’t think I can do this. What if I am not good enough? What if I am not able to help my clients to get results he/she wants?”
“If I succeed, then that means everything I have believed about myself wasn’t true” and deep down you want believe the lies you told yourself or people says about you to be true.🙍
Remember we are not talking about what you say you want on a conscious level as its not your conscious mind that runs your life, it is your subconscious mind.
- You have a thing against people giving you a lending hand, it could be giving or lending you money or helping you on a project because you think you should do it on your own? You won’t even accept when someone offers to pay for the coffee or meal you both just enjoyed together.
- You release a content or make an offer on Facebook, but you just can’t be bother to read comments, check messenger chat. You might secretly not want anyone to put their hands up to want to work with you (even though consciously you are praying that someone puts their hands up to say “hey I love your content” or “hey let’s work together”.
- You receive a messenger notification that someone sent you a message, you really don’t have anything to do but you refuse to check it ‘I can’t be bother right now’ or I’ll read it later’ because deep down it could be someone that wants to work with you or partner with you, or responding to a earlier message you sent and deep down you wish you weren’t receiving any messages.
- You hate checking your financials because its just too overwhelming you.
- you believe that rich people are bad, cheats, or they did something bad to get money. You might even talk negatively rich people
- You thinks that in order to be rich you have to sell your soul, hurt people or become corrupt
- I don’t need money or a lot of money (this might be true, but subconsciously you are sabotaging yourself. Just look at people who is always saying this, they are broke )
- Money can’t buy happiness and money is not everything. (true but deep down you could be sabotaging yourself)
- Its better to give than to recieve. When you release air, don’t you expect to also receive air? Its a universal law, when you give, you receive. I cannot talk much about how you be blocking abundance from flowing in life but some of you are sending the wrong signals that I don’t want to receive.
- You have a hard time charging for your service or asking for money. Maybe you Christians should be giving their services for free for example
These are just a few of the stories you are telling yourself that could be blocking you from receiving money, love and abundance.
Does all of this sounds forfeit to you? You might be saying “but Eston, I don’t have a receiving problem. Why wouldn’t anyone want to receive more money for example?”
I totally understand why you might have a hard time believing you have a receiving problem and I cannot go as deep as I would want to in this post
And its not only money that people block from flowing into your life: love and happiness also.
I thought it was not possible for people to not to have a lot of money for example until i notice i was doing that in my own life and business, and saw the same thing with some of my friends and clients.
For example….
❎I hated receiving money from people unless it was an exchange as told myself i am not a charity case. I felt as if I had to earn every penny I received.
❎Not checking messages until days later
❎Just couldn’t bother to respond to comments and found myself wishing there wasn’t any (I was shocked 😲 when I realised this)
❎ Sometimes secretly wishing at times prospects would say no to my offer or cancel. And it wasn’t that i didn’t want to make money but i had emotional blocks that i never realised were there.
❎Fear of success “what if I succeed and lose it all? What if I become a rich pig? “
❎Fear of having a lot of money and then losing it or mismanging it as I did so many times in the past
❎Fear of not being good enough or failing.
I had a lot of money fears and stories around money that I was telling myself because of things I saw growing up and things I was told e.g.
❎ money doesn’t grow on tree (my mother’s favorite) so I told myself money is hard to get.
❎ As a Christian you should go through hardship. If you are not going through anything and comfortable, something is wrong with your christian life and you should go back to the altar. I heard this so many times that I thought if I wanted to be spiritual I should not have money or live comfortable, I should always be struggling
When It came to success….
❎Someone like me cannot succeed. I didn’t come from a family who have money or were doing great things.
❎ I failed too many times so no matter how hard I try I will not succeed
❎ Everything I touch crumbles. I have the doom touch.
These are stories I told myself that kept me stuck for many years.
It took me years to identify my blocks and remove them. Two important steps I took was:
Identify the stories and the lies I was telling myself. This calls for self-awareness. For example, when you say you want to earn $xxx, what thoughts, fears or self-doubts shows up for you?
Or when you receive your salary or earn money from your business, what is it you immediately want to do? For me the thought was “how can I spend this money or get rid of it?”
Notice what comes for you in different areas of your life, e.g. money, business/career, personal development or professional goals, relationships and spirituality.
2. Change the story you are telling yourself. Sometimes just identifying your block is enough to remove them, but most times thats not enough. You need to change the story that you are telling yourself.
Sometimes to change it you just need to find people that have done what you want to do.
There are other steps you have to take e.g. identifying where that story is coming from and then using techniques to remove them, but these two steps will get you started.
When you remove these blocks around money, success and even love you will open the pathway to making more money in your business and attracting the right clients who are willing to pay you high ticket for your service.
